Basketball player wellness tracking that players actually complete

Sleep, energy, soreness, mood and session RPE, reported by the players themselves from their own phone in under a minute. You read the signals on Monday instead of discovering them on Saturday.

Fatigue does not show up at practice

A tired seventeen-year-old runs hard for twenty minutes. He will not tell you he slept four hours, and you will not see it until the third quarter on Saturday, or until something tears.

The information exists — it just lives inside the player. Wellness tracking is the cheapest way to get it out, and it costs no equipment at all.

What players report, and how long it takes

The daily check-in is short on purpose. Anything longer than a minute stops being filled in by February.

No accounts, no app to install

Every barrier you put between a player and a form costs you responses. So there is no account to create and nothing to download: a QR code for the team, a four-digit code per player, and the check-in opens in the browser they already have.

You can rename every question and every answer to match how you talk to your squad. And you can nudge the players who have not filled it in, without chasing them one by one in a group chat.

Which signals are worth acting on

Raw scores are noise. What matters is movement, and three patterns carry most of the value:

HoopSync flags those automatically. They are decision aids, not diagnoses, and they do not replace a medical opinion.

It also changes how the conversation opens. "You look heavy today" is an opinion. "You have reported poor sleep four nights running" is something you can work on together.

Wellness is one part of the season

The same app holds the roster, the calendar, practice plans, the playbook and live game stats — which is what lets load sit next to what you actually asked of the squad that week. See the basketball coaching app overview, the practice planner, or team management software.

One note for programmes in the United States: the player space is closed for squads under 13, for COPPA compliance.

Frequently asked questions

What is wellness tracking in basketball?

It is asking players to rate their own state each day on a few simple items — sleep quality, energy, soreness, mood, motivation. Paired with how hard the last session felt, it lets a coach see accumulated fatigue building before it turns into a bad week or an injury.

What is RPE and why does it matter?

RPE, Rating of Perceived Exertion, is a 0 to 10 score by which the player rates how hard a session or a game felt. It is the simplest way to quantify training load with no equipment at all: an RPE that is unusually high for a given player is a signal that something is not recovering.

Do players need to create an account?

No. Each player reaches their space through a QR code for the team and a four-digit code you give them. No account, no app to install: the questionnaire takes about thirty seconds in a phone browser.

Will teenagers actually fill it in?

Some will, some will not, and the design matters. It is under a minute, it works in the browser they already have open, and a coach can nudge the squad with a push notification. What kills adoption is a form that takes five minutes and asks things the player cannot answer honestly.

Can I change the questions?

Yes. You can rename the questions and the answers, for the daily check-in and the post-game review alike. The changes apply to the whole squad and stay saved.

Is this medical advice?

No, and it should not be treated as such. HoopSync flags when a player drifts from their own usual averages, when load is high while sleep is degrading, and when the same area of pain comes back week after week. Those are prompts for a conversation and, where needed, for a professional — not a diagnosis.

Is player wellness an extra cost?

No. The player space is included in the subscription, with no paid tier above it.
